Dr. Gall was a speaker at the International Conference on Child Protection 2025 (ICCP’25), held from July 25–27, 2025, at the Faculty of Computing & Technology, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka.  It was the first International Child Protection Conference held in Sri Lanka under the EU-funded JURE (Support to Justice Sector) project. Organised by a conference committee chaired by Prof Indira Kitulwatta with the conference chaired by Prof Anuruddhi Edirisinghe, the current President of the International Association of Clinical Forensic Medicine, ICCP’25 was hosted by the Centre for Gender Studies, University of Kelaniya, in collaboration with the National Child Protection Authority, backed by the European Union via UNICEF Sri Lanka, and with coordination from UNDP and the Ministry of Justice, it attracted about 250 participants including government officials, academics, international experts, practitioners, and child protection stakeholders from across the various sectors. Pre-conference, more than 375 abstract submissions were received which triggered preconference workshops on ethical media reporting and multidisciplinary child abuse management. This was a landmark continental-first initiative in Sri Lanka that brought together national and international stakeholders to address child abuse and neglect. Importantly, there appeared to be a positive and unified approach among government, health, and justice sectors to achieve effective outcomes, aiming to advance evidence-based policy, legislative, and institutional reform aligned with Sri Lanka’s national child protection policy and international commitments from the 2024 Global Ministerial Conference to End Violence Against Children.
